DRF Offerings for Haiti...

spacer (1K)

Please Share this email with your family, friends and churches!

We are now engaging our Disaster Relief Fund for Haiti
. At this stage the government of Haiti and the rest of the world will be working in immediate efforts to save lives. Apparently there may be tens of thousands of casualties. Please be in prayer for those affected.

What is our current response?  Yesterday morning I spoke with Ronald Rousseau, a CoG7 Pastor in Chicago originally from Haiti with family there, on gathering the necessary information for us to help our brethren as well as the communities affected through the Churches of God (Seventh Day) there. Of course, the first phase of emergency response is being achieved through numerous countries as well as those organizations that specialize in this type of immediate emergency response: Example; The Red Cross, etc.  The Disaster Relief fund NOR our SHINE Medical and Dental ministries are set up to offer such immediate emergency response at this time. However, once order and communication have been re-established, there will be plenty of time and opportunity to serve in a disaster of this magnitude. It is an unfortunate fact that the news media is pretty fickle and today's catastrophes have a short life but the needs will go on for YEARS to come!  Your offering through your DRF can make a difference over the long term!

There are a number of independent CoG7 congregations in Haiti but they are not affiliated with our global International Ministerial Congress or IMC.  That means that we still intend to provide them assistance but the communication structure necessary to do so in a catastrophe of this magnitude is NOT as well established. Therefore we are now receiving offerings to work in the continuing effort once the situation there is stabilized and communication with those groups is re-established.

What we need from YOU?

1) Please pray for God's blessing and guidance for ALL of these efforts.

2) Please send your offerings to;

The Disaster Relief Fund - Haiti
P.O. Box 33677
Denver, Colorado 80233-0677

3) Please inform us of any information that you or your church may have regarding specific circumstances in Haiti that need our attention.

Finally brethren, pray to our heavenly Father to allow His Son to return soon so that the pain and death of this wicked world will cease and the glorious Kingdom of Christ will rule on this earth. In the mean time, we must reach out in every way possible to show His love to those around us until the Father gives His command and these disasters will end! Thank you in advance for your cooperation in this effort.

Your Brother in Christ:
William (Bill) Hicks, Director GC Missions - DRF

The Disaster Relief Fund

How it Works

·         This fund is administered by the General Conference through the GC Missions Ministries.

·         This fund exists primarily to provide for the needs of those suffering from the ravages of a natural or manmade disasters.

 ·         It is the intent to administer the funds received through the existing North American General Conference or an International Ministerial Congress "Sister Conference" organization, where one exists.  Only in the event that we have no organizational means of support via our own national or international infrastructure, will we channel funds through independent or para-church relief efforts.  In this manner the love of God expressed in these offerings will flow through our national or international church into the surrounding stricken community.

·         Donations to this fund may be earmarked for a particular disaster project but contributors are encouraged to make non-earmarked contributions. The GC Disaster Relief Fund will only accept donations under the following conditions;

 1.    Should the unlikely event occur whereby a particular disaster project receives funds in excess of our intended goal for that project, all funds received above that goal will be considered excess funds and will be applied toward disaster relief in some other part of the world.

 2.    The decision to apply excess funds to another project shall be at the sole discretion of the General Conference which receives and administers this fund.
